NAPC sets up ‘one-stop service shop’ of all gov’t agencies

An all-agency services will be given free to the public on Friday (April 4), from 9 am-3 pm, dubbed as “Handog Pasasalamat ng Pangulong Gloria” to be led by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).

The activity, in coordination with the Office of External Affairs will be held at the National Housing Authority Compound located at the Elliptical Circle, Quezon City, gift of the government to the people in line with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s birthday on Saturday (April 5).

In a statement, NAPC Lead Convenor, Secretary Domingo F. Panganiban, announced that frontline government agencies will participate in the program and provide basic services to the people.

“This is a one-stop service shop of all frontline agencies to assist the people and serve the public providing basic and immediate needs,” Panganiban said.

Activities lined up for this one-day affair are free medical/dental check-ups to be administered by doctors and paramedics from the Bureau of Fire, Philippine National Police and the Lung Center of the Philippines and jobs fair by the Department of Labor and Employment, and free haircut and massage by graduates of TESDA.

To be distributed free are medicines and vitamins by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and vegetable seeds and saplings from the Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Plant Industry and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for backyard planting.

Several “Tindahan Natin” stores will be set up by the National Food Authority to sell NFA rice and other prime commodities at a lower price, and “Botika ng Bayan” courtesy of the Department of Health and the Philippine International Trading Corporation. The NHA will also set up an information desk to explain the housing program of the government. Also providing information on low-cost housing are the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, PAG-IBIG, and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board.
